Besides blue sapphire and ruby, the corundum family also includes so-called “fancy sapphires.” They come in violet, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and intermediate hues. As a sibling to the ruby, the sapphire shares its value, appeal, and scarcity. They are both members of the corundum family with rubies being red and sapphires covering all the other colors.
